Santa Cruz Island, Galapagos, Ecuador
I was dropped off at the ferry terminal upon completion of the small-boat cruise I was on for 10 days; so it was the first time on my own so far on this trip.
With my broken Spanish, I learned that there were two choices for getting into town. $25 for a taxi, available immediately, or $5 for a bus, which would depart in about an hour. It was hot, so at first I figured I'd take the taxi, but then decided to have the authentic island experience and wait for the bus.
The town was a bustling port city, complete with small pickup trucks (taxis) circling around the town looking to give tourists or locals a ride.
